my latest drawing project is a site-based one, drawing (ha!) on a field trip made to Diggers Camp on the far north coast of NSW, and has been an interesting [for me] exploration into the use of both photography and masking tape (masking tape is my new friend!) as drawing media. the starting point of the project was an ephemeral sculpture i made by wrapping a dead tree on the beach with masking tape and then drawing on the tape. from this point i approached my collection of photographs [taken on the trip] with the idea of wrapping and drawing and unwrapping and drawing and rewrapping and drawing with masking tape and pencils and ink and things...
the result is a collection of drawings on paper, and drawings on masking tape.... accompanied by a soundscape i made which layers conversation recorded on the beach also 'wrapped' with masking tape....
thanks to the lovely ladies on the beach - meredith, sonia, karen and jerry.
